Do What You Want
It sounds so simple but it’s unbelievably difficult to follow. Mourey used to work as a go-go dancer and hated her sports marketing job (the one she obtained a degree for). So what did she do? Started a YouTube channel that has since become her career due to its amazing success. Now she’s a part of an online community of YouTubers and has traveled to Ireland, India, and Australia. Her story is a true fairytale of what happens when you just follow your dreams.
Unconditionally Love Your Animals
Mourey’s reaction videos to picking up her dogs are priceless and tear-inducing (mainly because she’s bawling her eyes out). At the end of almost every video she posts, she’s snuggling with at least one of her three dogs: Marbles, Kermit, and Peach. In fact, about a quarter of her videos are entirely about her dogs and they are all entirely too cute to handle.
It’s OK To Make Fun of Yourself
If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re going to have a bad time. Mourey clearly knows this since she makes a bunch of humorous videos addressing stereotypes about girls (including herself). Some of our favorite videos like these are “What Girls Do In the Shower,” “White Girls At the Club,” “What Girls Have In Common In the Fall,” and any of the “What a Girl’s _______ Mean(s).”
Never Apologize for Who You Are
Being an internet sensation, Mourey’s bound to get some backlash from internet trolls and the like. She’s also victim to many users complaining about her colorful language, to which she responds “Don’t watch” if user can’t handle her way of communicating. She embraces her eccentricity and it’s her vibrant personality (as well as her language) that makes her such a success at her career.
Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery
Mourey often makes parody videos of those whose work she enjoys. For example, she claims she has always loved Iggy Azalea since she had released her first song…and then Mourey made a video “How To Throw a 4th of July BBQ With Iggy Azalea.” Other impersonations of hers include Drake, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and Miley Cyrus (with an added bonus of Billy Ray thrown in).
How to Enjoy the Important Things
This seems like it would be even harder for a YouTube icon like Mourey, yet her videos are consistent proof that she finds joy in some of the tiniest specks of her life. Her happiness at her dogs in onesies or her uncontrollable laughter when filming various videos with her current boyfriend Julien are constant reminders that we all need to take a step back and appreciate what we have rather than worrying about what we don’t have. Mourey’s almost child-like gratitude for all that she has is commendable and is a life lesson we should all take into account the next time we find ourselves displeased with our situation.
