Film Education Platform Fameuz attends the 38th American Film Market

The American Film Market (or the AFM) is the largest motion picture business event in the world that connects over 7,000 industry leaders every year. The AFM has been held since 1981 in Santa Monica, California and is currently produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), the trade association representing the world's film producers and distributors of independent motion pictures and television programs.

The AFM is an important destination for independent filmmakers and business people from all over the world; thus, the participation of at the American Film Market this year was very crucial for its development. Therefore, it gave our website an opportunity to meet show business professionals from all over the world that were willing to collaborate with film education platform, offering more jobs, webinar series and fundraising opportunities to all the registered members of the website. 

 This year the American Film Market marked its 38th edition. The numerous participants came from more than 80 countries and included professionals from different fields: acquisition and development executives, attorneys, agents, directors, distributors, festival directors, actors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers and so on. The AFM attendees were able to watch more than 500 screenings of 300 new films with the majority of it being either world or U.S. premieres. The films presented at the AFM ranged from blockbusters with the big budget that will be released by the major studios to lower budget art and genre films recognized at the international film festivals all over the world.

The conferences and seminars offered this year by the American Film Market were very practical and aimed at show business professionals from different fields. Fameuz had a chance to attend numerous workshops organized by the AFM, such as: “How to Get the Best Music for Your Project and Save Time and Money”, “NIFS Production Summit and Talent Spotlight”, “Pitching Essentials”, “Writing Compelling Characters” and many others. A lot of attention was given this year towards working in different regions and countries: California, Louisiana, Russia, Romania and one of the biggest themes during the AFM this year was creating new opportunities in industry market in China. Moreover, some of the seminars were aimed at promoting films about different groups and minorities: “The Future is Female”, “Building a Future for LGBTQ Films”, “The Passion of the Film: Reaching the Faith Community” and many others.

The 38th edition of the American Film Market has just ended; however, Fameuz is already thinking about implementing the AFM experience and knowledge into our website. We are going to offer our users a large webinar series on trending topics conducted by the industry leaders. Moreover, we plan to collaborate with big names from the creative industries and expand our services to different emerging markets such as China.
